Members of the Committee organised a dinner in May at the Agricultural Society rooms to welcome our 2024 Rural Ambassador representative Jessica Walmsley Fish. Jessica will represent the Society in her second year in this role. She is happy to take on this challenge despite being a new mum with all of the extra work that entails. Jessica will travel to Brunswick Junction in July to take part in the South West Zone competition and is hoping to go through to the State Titles in Perth later in the year.
The Rural Ambassador Competition is a National Competition aimed at young adults from rural areas who have a passion for living and working in their communities. The competition aims to discover the next generation of rural leaders who have the desire to represent and promote their community, region and state.
Jessica gave a speech at the dinner outlining her lifelong connection to the Waroona Agricultural Society and the Waroona Show and her passion towards education particularly in the areas of mental health in rural areas. Jessica was presented with a sash and flowers by Society President Eric Walmsley and Vice President Simone Magno. We wish her well at the zone finals in July.
